Although for obvious reasons many people have aversion for snakes, there are lots of snake-lovers as well. Some true lovers have been keeping snakes for many years without ever getting bitten. Only those fully committed and truly ready to face numerous difficulties should hold snakes as domestic pets.
A snake-keeper should possess comprehensive knowledge of the origin and the previous habitat of the snake. An environment similar to that of the native region should be created. That requires a certain amount of technical facilities. Proper light and heat measurement are crucial factors for snake keeping. It is absolutely necessary to know the particular traits of character and the animal's reaction to irritative factors
that are likely to occur in the new environment.
The snake, regardless of type, should be fed in strict accordance with the regime and the natural ratio. Average sized snakes should be treated to rats and mice, better pre-killed to prevent the snake from getting injured by the victim-to-be. Failure to feed the snake in proper time is absolutely inadmissible. That was once proven by the attack of a 3-meter long Burmese Python against a 15-year-old boy who died of bleeding. That turned out to be possible because the owners didn't keep the animal locked away and kept it hungry for 10 days.
If you are not experienced, it is better to choose more tame and amiable snakes, such as ball pythons, king snakes or corn snakes. But, no matter how kind your pet is, you need to conduct enough research on snakes on your own to be an expert to some great extent.
